On the origin of this site

Between 1998 and 2002 I wrote my Ph.D. thesis at the Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken (Saarland, Germany). During this time I was employee of the faculty of mathematics. Prof. W. Decker supervised my thesis Zur Berechnung von Kovarianten von Quantiken which dealt with the computation of covariants of binary forms. This topic belongs to the vast subject of invariant theory. To learn more about invariant theory visit Download -> Thesis or use one of the navigation buttons to the left.

I compiled these pages for two reasons. Obviously I needed a place to publish my programmes for download. In earlier times it was possible to print a programme code and append it to the printed thesis. Today, it would be more likely to append a thesis to a programme code. [ :-) ]
The other reason was a personal one. While writting my thesis I hardly found any good sites in the world wide web dealing with invariant theory. Hopefully, these pages are helpful for other people interested in computational invariant theory.

Documentation

One who is interested in my thesis but has a lack of time should read the very brief abstract of my thesis. But if you would like to learn more about invariant theory you can get some articles or books (Introduction) and the visual minded can watch some portraits of important mathematicians and read their biographies. You can download some parts of my thesis (in German) in the Download -> Thesis section.
